98 Blazer to 87 s10 rear end swap

i have been told that a 98 blazer rear diff will bolt up to my 87 s10 truck. any ideas as to if this is so??? im wanting to convert to rear disc brakes. this is the reason for the swap

Blazer rear is too wide. It's 58". S10 is 54" for 2wd.
If the S10 is 4wd it's the same. Blazer ZR2 is wider yet at 62".

If both are 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive then it will swap. You can bolt in a 4 wheel drive rear end into a 2 wheel drive truck, but the wheels are going to stick out a bunch. Just be sure that they are both the same and it will be fine.
