98 camaro v6 to an old skool v8 swap

98 camaro v6 to an old skool v8 swap? I'v been thinkin about this since i bought the car, and am wondering if a carberated v8 will bolt up to the 5spd trans thats in the car? I know i will have to make engine mounts, and posibly install a cowl hood so it will fit, and a lowpro dist. but has anyone else tried this kind of a swap yet? they came with a v8 option, but they seam like totally diff engines? there's lots of room so i think i can do it!? I'm just sick of the new fuel injected engines that dont put out like the old sb's do!

It will work as long as you upgrade your fueling system, cooling system, front suspension, exhaust, rear diff, transmission, and get new accessories to fit it.

does anyone know if the bell housing for the 5spd trans from a v6 3.8l will bolt up to a old sbc 350 everything else i know needs upgrading, fuel psi reg, suspension, exhaust, all that but the only thing that is givin me doubt is the trans. i really dont want an at in this car. i do have a 4spd i could put in it, but still want the drivability with the OD 5spd. thanks for the info!

Not in a 98 Camaro. That's a Series II Buick V6 that uses the 60 degree metric bolt pattern. The bellhousing will NOT bolt up to any V8. The Chevy V8 was factory offered, you will need to source a parts car. Of course, if you have emissions testing where you live, this swap will not pass. You would need to swap all the parts from a 98 or newer Camaro, and just buying a V8 car would be cheaper. Besides, why do you want a carb engine? The injected motor makes more power.
