98 Chevy 1500 350 vortec

hello i have a 98 Chevy 1500 350 vortec that threw a rod and I'm going to buy a 68-79 350 carbed engine for the block. now i want to put my vortec heads on the block but my issue is the camshaft they used tapped cams back then and now my vortec has a stock roller cam. what can i do to make my cam work. i am 17 and know a good amount about engines but not everything. mainly the cylinder head area like the valves and push rods and stuff but i am wanting to learn

I'd just get another vortech block. it will cut the confusion and there pretty common.. around here, there are tons of those trucks with rusted out frames and good running gear

Yeah, much easier to use a Vortec Roller block.

ii wanted to get another whole vortec to just say heck with it but all i could find was the vortec short block that had rusted cylinders and it was gunked up like no other for $350 but what would u guy recommend for me on that should i go back a negotiate? and the rust cylinders and gunk

also lately there has been alot of guys gettin the vortec intake leak latley very odd but all my buddys who have vortecs have gotten it in the past 3 months.
