99 Silverado - Replacing engine with?

Alright, here's the deal. I have a 1999 Chevy Silverado 4x4 crew (newer style) and the 5.3L just took a **** and I'm in the process of putting something else in. It took a ton of searching, but I've came across another 5.3 on Craigslist for around $700.

Now, I was curious should I just throw another 5.3 in or change it up since I have to pull the motor anyway? I was thinking about finding a 6.0, but I haven't found one on Craigslist and from what I've heard they can be costly.

I also have a 355 completely rebuilt pushing 400+ HP I'd love to throw in her.. but I don't even think that's possible.

Anyway, I don't know too much about the newer Chevy motors so I figured I'd ask you guys your opinions.

A 6.0 is the definite route to follow if you want a stock drop in motor. There are 3 versions of the 6.0 for your application. The 300hp lq4, 345hp lq9, and the 400ish hp LS2. The lq9s and ls2s are the more expensive ones. Lq4's are relatively cheap and would be the route I would take if you are just wanting a little more performance from a stock motor. They also are a very good platform.

Performancetrucks.net has a lot of good info for your type of swap.
