9bolt to 10 bolt parts swap

Very new to this stuff so please bear with me. I have an MGB with a 3.5 rover engine, around 230HP, car weight is approximately 2200LBS, my rear end is a cut down S10 limited slip and I really need a positive traction unit. I recently purchased a 9 bolt out of an 86 Camero with positive traction. Am I correct that both the 10 bolt S10 and the 9 Bolt are 7.75 inch diameter ring gears, if so will the positive traction carrier interchange?

Sorry. The 10-bolt started at 7.5", then later upgraded to 7.625". You can put a 7.625" set-up in the 7.5, but that Borg-Warner Australian 7.75" 9-bolt has NO interchange with the GM 10-bolt.
The 9-bolt isn't worth fussing over, toss it in the trash.
Back to your 10-bolt. Pop the cover, remove the cross-shaft pin with a 6-point 8-mm ( 12-point WILL round off the head of the pin ) and slide an axle out to count splines. Early is 26, late is 28.
Also, the 10-bolt uses 2 different offsets, depending on the gear ratio. 2-series includes the 3.08:1, while 3-series includes 4.10:1.
Once you know which series and which spline count, then you can search for whatever differential you like.
The 10-bolt has far more after support, since it was used in Camaros from '82-'02. That 9-bolt was '86-'89 TPI Camaros only. And unlike the 10-bolt, the 9-bolt was never used in any other GM vehicles.

Thanks so good to know not to waste any more time with it. Another question will the disk brake parts on the 9 bolt fit on the 10 s10 rear end? I would like to utilize the disk in place of the drum from the truck.

No, the disc and drum housing ends are different and the brackets wont work. Thirdgen.org is a good source of information.
