Just got a rebuilt TH350 for my 76 GMC, After i slapped it in, i noticed that the little rod thats supposed to be sticking up out were the detent cable goes is not there. I know that the detent is for passing gear, but does it really need to be hooked up to make the rest of the tranny work. I dont have the time to take the tranny back out to do the repair, or maybe i can just pull the pan and put one in myself. I havent had the time to contact the guy to let him know about my prob, plus he's away on a vacation trip. (Please Advise)
It will also shift at slightly different times. Personally I prefer to run without it, keeps it from going back into 2nd when ya don't want it to. Just don't go for a pass and forget to throw it into 2nd.
would recalibrating the governor for higher shift points make much difference without the passing gear?
