? about XE262 cam compared to others

Hello, I an building a chevy 350,(Bore .30) I plan to hoop it abet with
better heads, intake and carb. and hedders.
I looked at the compcam chart for the XE262, and would like to know
if this cam is reliable,to last. I heard it jumps off the seats and back
pretty fast. Is there another cam that would do the same job as the
xe262, but easier on valve train?

Thanks

I used to use nothing but comp cams but I have changed my attitude since they've been flattening lobes. My son happened to get a good one a couple of years back and it is still running as I am sure many others have on this board. But I've seen some horrific failures in comps cams as of recent. I am shying away from them for awhile. I like Isky and Crower so far. Not a flat lobe in the bunch yet.

You may want to check out the Voodoo series from Lunati. Lunati is some very nice stuff.

If you are worried about the XE series of cams, with the faster ramps, check out their single profile cams ie 262H, 264H and 268H.

I am running a Comp XE 274 in a 406 with no problems at all. Engine makes awesome power in low and mid range. After 5500 it starts to flatten out, but still pulls good to 6000, where the rev limiter is.
