Most often I see something on the road that really catches my eye, then I follow them to see what year and brand of vehicle it is. (they all sort of look alike now-a-days) I make note of the color for future use. Certain colors just pop in the sunlight.

The 57/8 Caddys just looked fantastic in either
Coral-------------(can ya say 'pink cadillac'??)
Copper-----------Also a good looking color

I know they don't sound like good colors----but they sure do look "right" on the car.

neither of these colors will have the maintainence issues that black or near black cars have.
(have had a black vehicle since I was 18)

Black is a PITA to keep clean, and my 59 Elky will be the last black vehicle I do.

Haven't gotten around to painting the car yet. Mine is a 66 Bonneville that will have off-white leather and either sage or caramel interior accents.

If I can find the test panel I did I'll take some photos and send them. Here is a photo of the color I'm talking about. The caddy pearl keeps this color, but some of the irridescence is lighter. The yellow pearl richens the yellow and the highlights are a bit more yellow. The best way I can describe the color is "whipped butter."



Ford had a really rich and flashy blue color in the early 90s that I really liked as well. It might be a bit too gaudy on a big car like that, but it was my original choice before I found the mellow yellow. The best way I can describe it is "candy apple blue." They used it a lot on Tauruses and Trucks, like this:

GM had a nice burnt orange coppery color(around 02), but not the typical metallic orange like they had on the Cavaliers. I have only seen it on one vehicle in this area and the owner doesn't know the factory name for it,Its on a GMC Sierra if that helps any.

Black cherry is a purple-ish maroon
or maybe a maroonish purple.
Goes great with the new Chrysler PWG.

Best thing that I can recommend, is keep your eyes open for something that catches YOUR eye, and when you see about 4-5 that happen to be the same color, that's it. What YOU like is most important.

That's how I got my shade of red. I travelled all over the US to shows, etc. and everytime I saw a bunch of red cars and one that popped out, I asked what it was.
Sure enough.... that's my red.
