ok, i'm going to paint my '58 coupe deville this week and have no idea what colour to go with
she has a nice straight body and tan interior.
at first i was going to go suede black, then i thought suede wine(burgundy), then i had settled on suede cream (pale yellow), then i saw a suede beige/tan. and figured that was it.
now i'm thinkin' gloss

either somebody shoot me or give me some inspiration here

any ideas?

Have you looked online for others? Google and Yahoo will let you search and ONLY show you images it found in a small thumbnail version. Look for IMAGES at the top of the search engine.

The color HAS to be YOUR decision and not someone else opinion or you won't be happy, and even then there's no guarantee after you see it that you won't change your mind.

There's also some software programs available that will show you your car in various colors. I believe you can buy it from House of Kolor?

this is the cream that i was going to use, i then found an even nicer one called leghorn cream, i think it was 57 olds. i had the paint shop make me a spray can of it and painted the rear quarter and tail fin, it was pretty shocking at first, then it was ok, then i thought it was wrong for the car.
the car is for the better half to drive, shes not big on that colour after seeing it either.

i have been searching images for weeks now, with no luck
i'm just looking for suggestions

I like red and white two tone.

PPG # 107 straight mix red (intense red)
or HotRed or FastRed
all these have a lot of orange look to a lot of people.
definitely sprayed over a white base like Boyd and Troy do all their cars.

and the new Chrysler PWG vanilla creme, that is the dark white on the new cars the last 3 years.
It is much prettier than the intense whites when next to red.

Chrysler's new red on the Challenger is ok if you need to tone it down a little.

All you need is a great two tone pattern, not the usual top/bottom.

Oh, I guess you know what color I am painting my car.

I've always loved a dark red with a tan interior. The kind that looks good with a nice light tan interior. OR equally as cool is a nice dark blue with a bit of metallic. IMO, both look fantastic with a tan interior. Of course, depends on the tan. There's "tan" and a coffee type color. I like the lighter tan.

Brandy Wine would look great with the tan.

Ask a paint shop to spray you a test panel. For the base use VW Mellow Yellow, and then test stripes with one and two coats of yellow pearl, and one and two coats of cadillac pearl.

Trust me.

It turns out like buttercream frosting. Classy.

i agree, classy colour. it would have to be gloss instead of suede. which may mean that i will have to get someone else to spray it

Shoot it gloss. I can't remember what member it was but they had an older Caddy and shot it in Pearl Tangerine. Looked super!!!

With new paint I would go with new colors. How about that nice Copper GM color...

I always liked the Chrysler Black Cherry that was around 10-15 years ago. It looks great with tan interior, and it is a classy color. A great alternative to black or navy blue.

I often pick colors off the new car lots.

Most often I see something on the road that really catches my eye, then I follow them to see what year and brand of vehicle it is. (they all sort of look alike now-a-days) I make note of the color for future use. Certain colors just pop in the sunlight.
