I've never used the Ace brand ratchet, but I've used a Blackhawk ratchet with the same head profile. That profile is the biggest drawback to that type of ratchet IMO. Too big on the head to fit into a lot of really tight spaces. I believe Ace has a lifetime warranty, so that is on your side if you do decide to buy it. Just save the reciept for returns if it ever should fail you.
As a sidenote for you, though, buy the best tool you can afford at the time of purchase. You will not regret that decision. When I bought my first socket set, I bought a set of Popular Mechanics brand sockets and ratchets. I still use my 3/8" ratchet more than any Craftsman tool I own. My 1/2" drive lasted almost 12 years before the directional pawl broke. That was a long time for a $13 tool, especially considering the types of stuff I used it for.
