Acrylic Urethane single stage

Hello all

Well I would first like to thank everyone for the help in the self etching vs epoxy thread. I learned a lot and i went with the epoxy and what a primer that is!!!

Anyways, I found that summit sells an Acrylic Urethane single stage paint. Its hot rod black with a satin finish.

What are the pros and cons of Acrylic Urethane paint???

It's too easy to use, I just painted 2 cars in a driveway paint booth (Harbor Freight portable garage) and the results were great! Just follow the directions for reducing and do lots of prep work sanding and taping. The paint flows out great! You'll get the online pros now that will swear the paint is no good and you need to get 2 stage Imron, but for home use it can't be beat for the price. Remember you can have a great paint job from Maaco, you just need to do the proper prep work!

No down side to any Urethane. I have used the summit stuff one time a month ago.
Seems Ok for the price. Shoots and feels like TCP Global Refinsh products
if it is a Budget Job Go for it.
The only downside to a single stage is metallics or satin paint like the Hot rod black..No runs allowed since it is your finish coat

Since you finish wil be Satin the cheaper product should be fine as your not expecting a show quality shine to last for YEARS

Good paint holds it shine Much longer than cheap paint....But satin ??
Go for it

Thats right 52F1 satin

I hate gloss I've never been a fan of it. Don't get me wrong it looks beautiful and it really pops. But I'm the guy that dares to be different! First time I saw a hot rod black with a flat finish I've loved the look. I want the satin for a bit more UV protection. And the fact I can use a mild wax on it (I think correct me if Im wrong on that).

Well just from what you both have told me and what Ive read about it and what all my paint buddy's have told me I'm sold!

Now what is the best way to spray the paint. . . Top to bottom??? Bottom to top???

Also does the satin show the paint lines like a flat paint or primer does???
