Adjusting Detent

Can anyone point me in the right direction for adjusting the detent cable?

TH350 is one where you can adjust it by ear as opposed to the new OD units which must be set precisely, preferably with pressure gauge. Earlier pull gives quicker, harder shifts, later pull the opposite. However, as we have discussing in email, I'm afraid your tranny is too long in the tooth to save w/ kits or minor adjustments.

It can't hurt to play around though. I think the more familiar I get with this thing, the more likely I am to try tacking a rebuild on my own.

As I mentioned in the email, I through in a shift kit and I feel like I'm hitting 3rd...I may have always had it, but it just wasn't evident considering I've only driven the vehicle around the block.

I still have some issues though, I'm hoping that I might be able to tweak some stuff and get this thing going.
