adjusting valves

this is more of a just in case post, i adjusted the valves down to where the lifters stop moving and then an extra 1/2 turn as i was told to do on a hyd roller........good?

not quite... You adjust them down to zero lash first. While jiggling the pushrod up and down, tighten down until there is no more up/down motion. Some guys spin the pushrods, but sometimes there isn't enough difference in friction to really tell you when its at zero lash.

THEN do your 1/2 turn.

You also made sure to turn the engine to the proper points when you adjusted the valves, right? Each lobe MUST be on the base circle (not in the lift part)

I noticed he is using a roller cam, can this be done for a hydraulic flat tappet cam? I always did the pushrod spin, and seemed to wind up having to tighten them again, but with your method that may not be an issue.

sorry i mis typed, i meant i adjusted to zero lash and then half turn. not lifters....oops
