Switching from a 350 trans to a 700r4 was impressive to me. My 2.73 rear gears were swapped to 4.10 at the same time. It came out of the hole much harder. The trans was out of a S10 and the torque converrter is stall rated at 2600rpm . It was a dead player 350/350. The extra stall and gear made a nice difference.
I downsized to a 327 from the buick lesaber 350. The 327 is rebuilt in late 90's as a factory hp 327.
