advice on where to learn?
hello, i was just browsing through some stuff on the web and i found this site. I don't currently own a hotrod or any car similar to it but im saving up for a car, preferably a firebird or trans am. I've recently gained an interest in cars, particularly muscle cars but i don't really know much about fixing stuff up or making a car or car parts from scratch, however i'm interested in learning. so my question is how did you guys learn all that you know? any advice on where to go or what to do to learn some basics on hotrodding? i appreciate any advice, thanks.

use the knowledge base and do searches for anything your interested in learning. start reading books on this stuff, thats what i did. if you still cant learn it from a book, post a thread, someone here will know. good luck

Along with the above, nothing like a free library system to check out mags and books. Another good place is the local hot rod clubs. Different communities list them in some of the papers on Friday nights. Go on line and check on clubs listed for your area.

reading is probably the cheapest way to go. i learned by ripping my dads old jeep apart, and rebuilding it (it was given to me, as a project) pricey, but its one of the best ways to learn

the way i learned is bought an old beater, and wait for everything in the world to break...then try and fix it yourself. if ya screw it up your not out much. or buy a repair manual from autozone or something and think of anyproblems that might have happened and see what you could have done to fix it. reading through these posts are really good too. and you soon learn who is the most knowledgeable. and who to ask.
