I think you should choose the 383. In your local of so-cal it shouldn't be too hard to find a 350 block and the scat stroker 9000 series cranks are getting cheaper and cheaper....flat top pistons....AFR 195s. Victor Jr. intake 750 vacuum secondary carb and 1"3/4 answer your question pretty much any of the aluminum heads for chevies are great. Most are $1200.00 assembled! The bad thing is you're going to need to spend as much in the car as you put in the motor! Good trans/rear and tight suspension to put the power to the ground. Pick torque over top end HP on the street and you will be waay ahead of the guy you're racing by the time he hits the powerband on his cam.
