Aftermarket keyless start question.

I have a 61 Lincoln I have been building and upgrading for a few years now. My friend has a Prius and there is a chip you carry around with you that unlocks the doors and lets you start the car with out a key. I would love to find an aftermarket kit like this to install on my Lincoln. I was wondering if anyone on here knows of a kit like that or has done something like this to there car?

Thanks.

not the auto unlock or the push button 'chip' start. but you could do a remote start very easy, for $40 or so for a cheap kit

Most autostart systems are designed to work with fuel injected engines that always take the same amount of time to start and don't require pumping the gas pedal or setting the choke.

If your engine will start and stay running without having to touch the gas pedal when the engine is cold, then it might be a candidate for autostart. Otherwise I think you might be out of luck.

If your Lincoln has a stock transmission, I wouldn't recommend leaving it run in park anyway, as these transmissions have an occasional tendency to jump out of park into reverse. I work on 60's Lincolns all the time - probably about 10 or so per year, and in the last 10 years, I've had 4 of them jump out of park on me - I almost lost one in the pond next to my shop, luckily I was able to catch it - it was a #1 show car with over $150k invested in it. Now I never leave them running without someone in the driver's seat.

Hope this helps...

Here's a couple of keyless start systems. Uses a fob and a button. Not a remote start, completely replaces the keys. Still would need an engine that would start pretty easy when cold.
