ahhh!!!! mice!

Help!
I was out working on my winter beater today and found a mouse nest under the hood. Does anyone know anything that would keep the little buggers away from the car? Its not running at the moment, or I would just take a quick run up the highway to clear the critters out. I thought about setting mouse traps, but there really doesnt seem to be any good places under the hood to set them, not a whole lot of room (2000 neon) I dont really want to put posion around the car bec ause I'm afraid my dog would get into it (had a close call with her getting into some ant killer at my parents house one weekend)
If anyone has any suggestions I'll buy you a beer if your ever up my way

Thanks,

Chris

wow thanks for the fast replies! I'll give them a try and see what happens. I was kinda surprised the mice moved in as the car is moved around about once a week (till the alternator seized up last week) where as my truck has been in the same spot all summer and they leave it alone, pretty bad when your truck is in such rough shape even the mice wont be seen in it eh?

First round is on me!
Thanks again

Chris

I was going to suggest snakes

Found an empty mouse nest and shedded skins in same car. Like the circle of life in a car. Not sure what happened to the snakes????

I work at a parts house part time and I opened the hood on a car to look at something for the guy and he had a small butter bowl wired in a not to hot to melt area of the engine compartment and it was full of poison. He said it worked good.

Doc here,

Bagged .. used ...Kitty litter..

They'll smell it and bail for dear life.. had a problem with roof rats on a 500 unit apartment..tried screens .. and adding fascia over the existing facia..(so as not to leave a space for them to get in the attic..) to no avail..

This little ol' blue haired lady on a top apartment started throwing bagged used kitty litter up in the attic..The rats were gone in less than a month..

Try it .. it works!

Doc

A friend of mine puts Irish Spring shavings in a bowl on the floor of his open car that's parked in a barn. Swears by it.

Fresh mint is suppose to deter them as well. It grows like a weed down here. Its nice for cooking too.
