air bagging my 58 caddy

i recently purchased an air bag system for my 58 coupe deville. the system has a 4 link setup for the rear suspension. this 4 link will have to be modified to fit the caddy, so as i was under the car i was looking at the existing suspension that came on the car. it has lower control arms and a 3 point upper pivot type control link. this system seems to travel through the full range of motion that i need to bag the car, it appears to be all that i need.

what have others done in this situation?
have they used the existing system or changed to the 4 link.
will the stock setup work for me?

thanks greg

airbags

in 1958 ford and GM had optional air suspensions. You might be able to find info in an older shop manual how they worked and get some ideas how the factory did it.

I have a Cad chassis here that will get airbags but mine is a 1971..I will use the stock suspension on that one..I will need to relocate the front shocks in order to fit the air bags..Maybe yours is close to what I have..

Bottom line I see no issue with replacing the springs with air bags..

the stock system or what was left of it has been removed. it wasn't designed for running as low as i want to.
but i believe that the trailing arms and such will work, i just need to hear it from someone else first

The stock arms will work just have to wrap the lower arms they will bend if you lower or raise the car to much i have done 6 caddys already that way and they have been just fine one has been on the road for 5 years so far.
