Air bags and rear sway bar

I working the rear suspension of a 64 Bel Air and wondering if it is necessary to use a rear sway bar?

Not required, just makes the car handle better during cornering. Most cars prior to 1973 or so didn't have one, only performance models got them. Most all modern cars have them, and police cars have had them since the 1960's, so what does that tell you..... nice to have but not manditory if your not chasing handling improvements.

This is assuming you are calling a rear anti-roll bar a "sway bar".

Or are you calling the factory panhard (side-to-side axle locater) bar a "sway bar"?? What is the suspension you are using??

Rear sway bars are one of those things that I usually tell guys to get the car together, take it for a drive and see what you think. When doing airbags on a 58-64 you should be running a four way independent control system and atleast a front sway bar.

Tony ,Please explain 4 way independent system...Also,what would be best ,two tanks or four?

My car has the stock 3 link set up in it. I bought drop spindles, front and rear coils, front and rear sway bars for it. Sold the coils and want a air ride setup. I am planning on making new rear control arms and a adjustable panhard bar.

Not sure what I am going to use for a set but I did work on semis and trailers for four years so I have a pretty good understanding plumbing the air ride suspension.

I think what he is talking about with a 4 way independent system. Is that you need to install this type system so you can control all four corners of the vehicle. Someone correct me if i am wrong. And another thing when installing air bag systems is to double check and make sure you have the bag mounts located in the right position for optimal results when lifting and lowering your ride,( Make sure everything it's clearing everything) And IMHO i really don't think you will need 4 tanks.JMO What size lines are you thinking about using?
