Post Which air cleaner?

I have a 93 Chevy pick-up with a new engine. The original HP was about 240, I'm now running about 300. It has vortec heads, headers, TBI, and a cowel induction hood. The original system had one hose from the air cleaner connected to the wheel well which seemed restrictive. Would I be better unhooking the hose and drawing air from the engine compartment or be better with an open type air cleaner used on carburated cars? I know I will be pulling in hot air, but it seems alot of hot air might be better than a little cool air. What do you guys think?

There is a low restriction aftermarket inlet tube for your application, but for the life of me, I can't find it. This along with a K&N filter will give you what you are seeking. HOLLEY also makes a larger throttle body for this application.
