What ever you do DON'T UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TRY AND REPAIR THAT TANK! I know you said you were going to replace it and that is the only safe thing to do since welding a tank can be extremely dangerous. It really is not practical to repair an older single stage compressor if the tank is shot because you can buy one of the cheaper compressors for about the price of a replacement tank, maybe even less after adding freight. This very thing came up some time back and the fellow had a heck of a time trying to get a tank shipped (I hooked him up with the outfit unfortunately
) and I believe he finally just bought a cheap compressor, used the tank and sold the rest of it. It may be a good idea to price all the parts needed before buying anything and compare that to a new compressor.

Can you tell from the specs that it is single stage? I don't know much about compressors.
I'm also considering this single stage unit from Harbour Freight, I can get it direct from the local H.F. store for $400. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...temnumber=3848 |
