Air Tool CFM

Does anyone here know if the air tools ratings for
CFM consumption is for "no-load" rating?
Are they using more under load???
I was told they are but am not sure.

JC, They are rated "no load" and it depends on the tool and design whether or not a loaded condition will be more or less. Some tools such as an inline sander could use more or less than rated CFM in a stalled condition depending on the position it stopped in. But most air tools seem to use slightly less when loaded.
