I took my 95 dakota in to the local service shop because the check engine light was on and got it back a few hours later. I got two blocks away and the light came back on.
The receipt says the AIS steper motor was sticking and the mechanic said they cleaned and lubed the fan and motor assembly. What does the AIS motor do and where can I find it under the hood. I think it does somehting with the idle air. How serious is it? The mechanic said if it came on again to replace the motor which would be about $80. I can't believe they didn't run it after they fixed it to see if the light would come back on. now I'm out $65 but should I take it back or is it a big deal? could I replace the motor myself? Thanks BF
