I was woundering if any of you heard about people runing a corn based alchohol in ther cars and was wondering what the affects are on the carburatore and the rest of the engine, like what it would do to the rings and valves.
It should make same hp if you jet richer, but less mpg. It will also make the engine run cooler and may have trouble starting in cold temps. Best to raise compression to take advantage of the higher octane and make a more efficient motor.
Me too, I like the idea of a high compression "pump" gas motor. Unfortunately E85 isn't sold within 80 miles of where I live. Several universities have published technical papers on how to convert to E85 (including late model EFI) and a quick search will turn up a lot of info.
Yeah, ethanol is not compatible with some plastics and non-anodized aluminum.
