Do you really mean the TH200 3 speed automatic (some were lock up, aka "TH200C"), or do you mean the TH2004R automatic w/overdrive?

If you now have the TH200, it's a relatively weak tranny, I'd swap it out for a TH350 if your engine has been modified for more power- or at least build it to handle the engine.

The main thing to be aware of is the bolt pattern of the bellhousing- there are different patterns for the Chevy and the other GM's (aka "BOP" for Buick, Olds, Pontiac. This includes the RWD Caddy's as well). The TH2004R can be had w/a "dual pattern" bellhousing that will mount up to either.

its a th200 metric. deffinatly not the overdrive. its the 3speed. im not positive if its a lock up or not. i know a th350 with a 6" tail will fit it but i would like to keep it as stock as i can. its a th200 metric tranny with a stock 305.

Look on the driver side near the shift shaft for an electrical connector. If there's one there (and there should be if the trans is original and/or correct), it's a "C".

A "C" needs the computer (or to be wired to lock up w/o the computer) in order to work as it should. If you've done away w/the computer, it's not very original- so I'd use the TH350. IMO, even if it has everything original, swapping out the TH200C for a TH350C (also w/lock up TC) would be an improvement and I cannot imagine it causing the vehicle to lose value. On the contrary, it should increase the value. If you're worried about it, save the original to sell w/the car.

yes it is a lock up then. and its not for valuve its more becuase i have little tools and am not "allowed" to work on vehicle in my apprtment complex. so anything i fix has to be quick and inbewteen the time managment leaves and dark....lol :D
