What we used to do in this case was simply double up the lower alternator bracket that connects to the water pump. Then we would find a bolt that tightly fit the inside diameter of the alternator plus the right lenth of threads out of the rear. We would then use a tight fitting nice sized flat washer to give it support, then a shouldered nut to give it more support. This usually worked out well, we could rev it without it breaking.
