altenator clicking

When I turn on my blower the altenator starts clicking very frequently and my amp gauge starts going up and down,haven't got a clue to what is going on could use some ideas, 1992 Ford Ranger 4 cylinder,thanks for any help.

Its very possible that something is wrong with your alternator and when you turn on the blower along with whatever else ya got running its overloaded. Or it could be something wrong with the blower motor causing it to pull too many amps. Really need some more information...what else are you running when this happens?

My first thought was the blower motor going bad and drawing too much power, but that usually blows the fuse for the blower motor circuit. Best guess is that the regulator is getting weak and shutting down on high load. The regulator is built into most later alternators. I would suggest having it load checked at a auto electric shop.
