Alternate fuels

Reciently me and a friend were involved in an argument of what other types of fuels there are to run your motor out there. He is building a car for use at only the dragstrip, long story short he wants to run a 15.5:1 compression on pump 87 octane gas.

We got into it and I stated one that I know off the top of my head and know a little bit about, Alcohol. His sudden oposition to this is that he is going to have to go forged internals (sorry but If my motor was pushin 15.5:1 it would be forged with no question).

With this being said jokingly I stated he could use diesel and push upwards of 20:1 without detonation with no problem whatso ever.

I have heard mention to "Nitro" so I stated this and he naturally thinks nitrous oxide. I give up on this because I know absolutally nothing about this

I know there is possibly a few others out there, what are they?

Thanks for the help anyone can offer,
D200Dodge

P.S. I would like to ad that if you have a problem with me and don't like me don't comment. Not to sound rude but I don't want to start a bunch of crap.

If you want to use alternate fuel, why don't you just get drunk and take a leak in your gas tank. I heard it makes 396 small blocks run great. Especially if you have a 2 bbrl carb!

I heard from some friends in Canada that they're running this stuff called sucrose. It this white powdery stuff, some kind of fuel additive, boosts your octane up to like 130 or something, no detonation, no knocking, no pinging, runs like a freighttrain, your car will pick up at least 1.5 in the quarter, guaranteed. It's illegal in the states, but if your in good with your parts man he can get it for you, just say you need some sucrose, give em a wink and a nod, you'll be fine. But DON"T TELL ANYBODY. If this catches they'll stop importing it and ruin it for the rest of it. Just get a bag and dump it straight in the tank, the more the better, your competition won't know what hit you.

Bend over and take it like a man. You saw this comin dude.

Alright, we had our laughs because were jealous of his 15.5 ratio.
My Geo is lacking a little.

Here is the proper mix of gas to help your friend out.

Stick with the Shell grade regular and for every 5 gallons add one cup of sugar. Mix well, this will take care of any spark knock problems and hard starting when engine is hot.
This will also go a long way to save the starter motor from wearing out.

Good Idea Barry, It will help you save money on gas and stop your engine from burning oil!
I should try that since I keep burning up starter motors!
