alternater ?
first off im running new wiring throughout my engine bay and was curious if there is any effects positive or negative with running a larger power wire from the alternater. its only a 60 amp chrsysler.
also would delta winding the alt instead of standard produce more amperage. ive done a delta wound before but had no way of finding out if it produced any positive results. i was told it generally bumps its amperage up 30 |
Doc here, :pimp:
The larger the wire the more current it can handle, with heat loss, heat does no useful work and consumes energy..so It is always a useful thing to go as large as practical when replacing the wire.. On the alternator winding..Why go there, you can probably upgrade to a higher output alternator as cheaply.. Quote:
Remember, how ever more you bump up the output, your internal components must also be upgraded if they are to last.. Doc :pimp: |
seems to me i should just go get a higher output alt or just run capacitors. i dont have much to my set up but i figure amp draw on a compresser and a 1500 watt rms system can draw much more than my alt can output id probably need 2 caps and a 150 amp alt maybe even a capacitor to my compressor.
