alternative to chrome?

how do you andonize metals? its a cool looking alternative to chroming. does it work on cast iron? aluminium? what kind of surface prep do you have to do? what kind of durability does it have? to heat?

do you have a good guy?

i see a lot of chrome and carbon fiber. not so much "black" chrome, which is a direction id like to go. powdercoating is cheap and colorful, but it chips easy.

what is galvanizing? is that zinc or nickel?

i know too many questions. here is another .

what do you like best coating wise, and for what?

i think you meant to say "anodizing". it can only be done to aluminum, it helps become less corrosive. as far as prepping i imagine you just have to clean it. i know a company that does E-coating which leaves the parts looking really nice, like a black chrome. i zinc plated my 4 link parts so they wouldn't rust but the finish wasn't show quality. next time ill go with E-coating. if you have any more questions call these guys 734 421 6100.

'58 Plymouths Belvedere came with anodized aluminium side trim, which looks like silver, and '57-'58 Furys has anodized side trim and front grille, which looks like gold...
