alternator conversion

anyone ever converted from an SI series to a CS series alternator?

I'm having output problems at idle/low speeds. I know that the CS have 2 to 3 times the output at idle as the SI ones.

It's either convert, or I overdrive my existing one, but I don't think that will be too healthy for it at higher enginge RPMs.

My current crank to alternator pulley ratio is roughly 2.7.

Any advice or insight will be appreciated.

thanks
