alternator gone bad?
started the 350 sbc today and it started fine. went to store and wouldnt start. dead. starter was replaced about 1 month ago and battery is about 6 months old. when u turn the key the soliniod clicks so starter getting power and i checked the starter wires out and they look fine. i went to jump it and it fired right up after 2 sec of charge. went home turned off and immediatly tried to start agian, dead. tried the cables once again and fired up after a few sec of charge. im guessing alternator not charging the battery?

Probably..................get it running and remove the negative cable from the battery. If it keeps running, the alternator is OK, if it dies, the alternator is not charging.
Either that, or you have a broken wire somewhere.

thanks poncho great trick to remember. yes the car cut off after i removed the neg connection on the battery. thanks for the help
