alternator has a wire broken off.

Just finished break-in of cam and the alt. was not charing while running it . One of the wires from the the 2 wire plug is broken and was taped off so I thought it was that way before as I cannot see where any other wire is broken . I haven't put the a/c comp. back on yet so those are disconnected yet . Where does the wires hook up from the 2 wire plug at the top rear of alt.? The other 2 heavier wires are hook-up but not charging yet???? Thanks

You need to provide more information on what you have. It sounds like you might have a GM alternator, but I'm just guessing.

Those wires need to be connected for the alternator to charge properly. The No. 1 wire goes to the idiot light, the No. 2 goes to the junction block.

Gauges

I'm assuming you mean the original sending units for the 53 6cyl engine. I just put new sending units for the 351 Cleveland in because the truck had the mechanical 3 cluster under the dash gauges and the original gauges are wired. I will give it a shot. I appreciate the help.
I had a ton of advice on how I was supposed to figure out the ohms output for each sending unit and how I needed to have a series of reducers and a whole bunch of other bull****!!
Thanks for the help!!!!
