alternator lamp

I repalced the alternator on my 65 mustang, 6 cyl, 200 ci. I cant get the alternator lite to go off. I've switched the sta and fld wires, checked the ground. I'm out of things to try.
Thanks Rusty41

it may be the regulator, not the alternator that was bad?

I'm not overly familiar with fords, but I would assume in 1965 they were using an external regulator like the GM cars did??
