I want to know where you got the elephant...I think I know how it could charge the battery. If I saw something that big running at me and I was out of juice, I think I would find the energy to start running again. Not sure about the midget and what not though....

A battery will charge "backwards"- just not very good is all.

The terminals on the battery were backwards. the pos was the neg and the neg was the pos. I had it hooked up right per the + and - but my meter showed the polarity was wrong. like I said I am pretty good at electrical, this had me thrown 4 a huge loop.
