hello , i have a 1939 1.5 ton chevy truck , with a new 350 engine . any ideas on how and where to put the alternator? and where to get the brackets to to fit with a short water pump? thank you 1pete1
There are several types of brackets available from the aftermarket that will mount the alternator high on either the driver or passenger side. Alan Grove sell them through several street rod suppliers. They also have mounts for an AC compressor and power steering pump if you need them.
I have used Bill's Hot Rod brackets to do the same thing.
long pump or short pump, diy brackets are easy to make with a grinder, drill and some flat plate
left, right, high, low or centered over the motor
probably not going to find a after market bracket that will fit without some modification
have u looked in "speedway" ?? my bucket had a lower mount alt, but don't recall who i got it from.. but look into Tbucket areas for they have little space too.
thank you for responding to my post 1939 alternator mounts , great ideas . i did find one on ebay, i will let you know how it turns out . i do not have the talent to build my own . thanks again 1pete1
