There are several types of brackets available from the aftermarket that will mount the alternator high on either the driver or passenger side. Alan Grove sell them through several street rod suppliers. They also have mounts for an AC compressor and power steering pump if you need them.

I have used Bill's Hot Rod brackets to do the same thing.

Thanks!
Maybe not beatiful, but in a tight engine compartment like on my '34 I won't see much of this bracket anyway.

The alternator bottom fastening is made wider than neccessary. Then I can shim it to fit 100% against the other pulleys.

On top of the alternator I have an adjustable tensioner. This makes for a very accurate and lasting belt tension.
