Wow! I am really sorry to hear about this-I was going to use them to build the Grille on my '35-

It must be nice to have so much work you can kiss Customer Service into the wind-

I was going to look at AC for my insert, but after reading this I think I call Dan Fink and see what the deal is with them.

Has he charged your CC yet? If not, cancel the order - in writing and with a priority mail, receipt requested If he then charges your card you can challange the charge with the CC company and they will handle it for you. I have talked to them at York and quite franky, didn't care much for their attitude for their very highly priced items - but that was only a one time occurance, but enough that I wouldn't purchase from them.

I bought a grill from him for a 36 Chev,, and yes he does take his sweet time,, but the grill is really nice.. and definitely worth the price.. I got the same run around from him,, he did answer the phone when I called , but always had some lame excuse,, like he has done with you,, I think it took about 3 months to get it out of him,, I finally had to put him on the spot and demand a time.. I got the impression he was a small time one man show, but you see alot of his grills out there,, and they ARE very reasonable priced,, Dan Fink is way over priced,, but popular,, I used one of his also,, The grill in my aviator is a Fink,, with a valley shell,

Just talked to Alumicraft about my 34 grille insert, the guy who answer the phone answered all of my question and gave me a 6 week lead time. His insert was 875.00 which is one of the best prices I found. I guess I'm going to see if he can do the job by sending him my grille shell.

Wish me luck...

Steve

They had a pretty big display at the NSRA nats in Louisville. I briefly stopped by and took a look at his grills, they looked very nice.

He gave me the same story, about delivery time,, I ordered mine early in the build,, so I wasn't pushing him,, but it still wasn't delivered when I actually needed it,, so that slowed up progress for awhile,, he did NOT charge my debit card until the grill was sent,, it was probably a 90 day wait,, I had to get on him several times,, seems he has the same excuse for everyone,,
You DO get your moneys worth with Alumicraft,, I would suggest that you give him his quoted 6 weeks then if you don't have the grill,, I would pester the hell out of him,, get a definite delivery date out of him,, and keep checking to see if he has charged you for it before it is delivered Good luck Bill

Maybe I should tell him it's for a show and I plan on detailing who I used to build this car, His name would be on the build board,

Body by...
Grille by.....
Motor by...
ect....

Maybe I'll look for a show in Nov. and ask him if he could have it done by then.

Regards,

Steve

We also keep getting promises... next week... next week. That is... when we can actually get him to answer the phone. It's been more than 6 months. He was telling people that it's only a 6-8 week wait at the Nationals. I feel sorry for all those people that think they're getting a grill insert that quickly. I know he doesn't want to turn down business but he needs to make good with customers who have been waiting a long time. And stop lying to people about the status of their order. And answer the dang phone.

Needless to say, he's not the only one in the business of making grills. I'm just surprised he's still in business.

That might be a prod for him to get it done,,,but I am wondering if he really needs the publicity he would be getting from you advertising for him,, since it doesn't seem he really cares,, but I guess that would be worth a try,, he did mention to me in one of my calls to him,,That if he would have known it was for a shop he would have got it out sooner,, probably another lame excuse he uses

I definitely would use him again because of the cost/quality of his grills, just ordering WAY in advance,,

He does make the grills for most of the kit car manf. so I am sure he is swamped,, but at least he could be honest with his coustomers..

Another promise has gone unfulfilled. He told me that I'd have my grille this week. It didn't happen. And he's not answering the phone either.
