Post Aluminum Drums

How are the GM aluminum drums used on some of those 80's Buicks, Blazers, and such? When I do back brakes, I want to put on new drums and hardware, so I want to go with higher performance equipment. This will be going on a 86 F-body with 15" rims. Ideas and suggestions would be most appreciated. Thx. K

Those are arguably the best drum brakes ever made for an American car. Huge pad area, heafty construction. They only come in 5 on 5" bolt pattern but they can be redrilled for other patterns. I have an old technical article on installing them on an early Olds rear end but the process is the same for any rear end so you should be able to learn someting from it. I installed them on the Olds (5 on 5") rear end in my willys and it wasn't that hard to do. Send me your e-mail address and I will send you a scan of it.
