Aluminum Heads & Cast Iron Intake

I have never seen anyone with a cast iron intake mounted on an engine outfitted with aluminum heads.

Anyone ever seen this done?

Anyone here know what the expansion rates are between the 2 metals???

I doubt it but I thought I shoot the moon & ask...

As long as you use the "Print-o-seal" gaskets by felpro, it's not a huge deal. Similar to cast heads and aluminum intake, cept the temps in the heads affect the aluminum a little more.

Its been done by the factory before. Many of the 4 and 6 cylinder aluminum headed GM engines from the early 60s were this way, and a few of the early aluminum headed Mopar Wedges had iron intakes.

A friend of mine did it on his engine but only because he didn't have enough money for an intake at the time. He used the gasket as JMark stated. It worked but really defeats the purpose of having expensive aluminum heads. Once he got his aluminum manifold, the engine came alive! In some cases the porting on the cast intake is smaller than that of the aluminum heads, whereby an aluminum intake can easily be port matched to the heads increasing horsepower and performance. Aluminum intakes are pretty inexpensive and easy to find. If I recall, my friend stated that his engine ran cooler with the cast iron manifold.
