I am trying to decide between the Edelbrock E-Streets,Performer's and the AFR 180 Eliminator's all in the 64cc range with 180cc runners. These new heads are going to sit on top of the original 327ci. / 210 HP in my 68 RS Camaro that need's to be re-built,bear in mind it's gonna be a Semi Daily Driver,I'm looking for a mild small block(345-380HP) with a little lump to it...the car already has headers,HEI distributor and a Edelbrock Performer 2101 intake and Edelbrock 600cfm Manual choke carb that I was gonna use,maybe upgrade the headers actually. The stock 2-Speed Powerglide and i'm assuming the stock gears in the rear end are still in the car,any recommendations to wake the car up? Thanks for the help.

I have a set of estreets that i am working on right now they have cheep valve train and need some clean up in the ports. If i were you i would spend a little more now and alot less later. Just my 2 cents.

The AFR heads are serious heads for serious power.I think the e street heads are very reasonable. beat cheapest transmission is the th350,same size as powerglide with an extra low 1st gear.4 spd auto would give more options.

Really the only thing that's different between the 210 horse 327 and the higher horse versions are the cam & heads. Early 68 is when they went from small journal cranks to the large ones but,for the power your looking for the small journal should work nicely. Goin with the new grind cams would definately be the way to go. And I gotta aggree with vinniekq2,you can find a 4sp auto it would really help wake it up. Painless has a control module set up for vurtually every 4 sp auto Chevy has. If you find a 200r thats even better cause it doesn't need a module. Remeber that the 210 hp rating was a gross number,not the way hp is rated since 72. Even a set of Iron vortec heads flow better than any head that came out of the 60's and you can pick them up rebuilt for dirt cheap. Then it's just a case of getting the right intake to bolt on to it.
I'm leaning towards the AFR's because although I've never had as much horsepower as i'm gonna have with either of the heads I listed I might wan't more power down the line and the AFR's might be best for that. Although the Edelbrock Performer RPM or Performer do lookin enticing price wise and would match up well with my existing Intake and Carb. The extra $300 for the AFR's isn't that bad if they're a much better head,how would they do with my current intake and carb? I can get my hands on a re-built th-350 or a th400 Transmission for about $650 bucks at a local shop,thinking of going that route...what gears would be daily driver friendly? Sorry for all the Q's...dying to get my car back on the road,thanks in advance.

Forgot to mention the block will bored .030 the AFR's shoud get me closer to 400HP with a lumpy mild cam right?

Do yourself a favor and get the 195's. 180cc ports are too small. 195's or 180's can make 400hp but 195's will have a much easier time and remain more streetable.

If I was in your position,I would do the heads last.( 68 Camaro is my favourite car from that era.)I had a 67 Camaro with a 350 back in the day,unfortunately it was stolen.The turbo 350 is a straight bolt in but still has the same high gear ratio so 3.55 gears or so will be your limit if you plan to highway drive on occasion. With O/D you can use more rear gear and still have some economy. AFR heads can support over 500 hp and it looks like you need to do other things first,do you intend to upgrade to a 12 bolt diff? If so what about posi trac and better axles? Are the sub frames tied or do you intend to tie them?Im not trying to discourage you in any way just get things done in correct order. If you only want a perky 380 hp engine,you dont need the AFR heads. vortec heads or above mentioned rpm heads are fine
Look to the right under more buying choices for 534.20 each.RHS made by COMP Cams. These would be great heads. On Comp Cams Camquest this HYD cam XE-274H 490 lift 230/236 duration at .050 with these heads on a 327 CID will make about 372.9 hp and 383.4 lbs. of torque. Even more with a 750 cfm carburetor.

I'm leaning towards the Performer RPM Series heads from Edelbrock now,I figure the few hundred I save over the AFR's I can put that towards the Re-built transmission and pull that powerglide out. I was also thinking about selling the Current Performer Intake and 600CFM Carb that I have for a Performer RPM Intake Manifold and a new 750cfm Carburetor. Wise Decision? Which Carburetor would you guys throw on top?
Anybody with Desktop Dyno willing to plug in some numbers with those heads and a mild street cam to see what I'd be making? 327ci bored .030 over

If you're only wanting 380hp then any decent head will work, id just get a decent cheap set. Your intake will work as well, and your carb. I would consider a hr cam though. And good headers and a trans swap. Then after all that is done upgrade the intake and carb.

336 is a pretty good all around ratio for the 8.2.With a Th-350 that will be a pretty good combo.
x2 on the Subframe connectors.. They will help prevent cracking the paint in the body line under the rear window. Add a good traction device and its all good.
If you an find a 12 bolt that they're not wanting a fortune for, thats a great choice. But the 8.2 can work pretty well if you upgrade the axles and use good parts.
