I know you can do almost the same thing is Pshop, but illustrator has MUCH better line tools, and that is apparent in your illustrations... I think someone is gonna dust off illustrator this weekend...

Illustrator will also be true vector, were as Photoshop is not fully vector based.

I used to do parts manuals for GM in the UK, in 1978 I went to Germany and did the same for VW, in ī91 I came to Spain and itīs here I HAD to learn to illustrate on the computer.
I still pine for my Rotring pens and elipse templates.

Couple of free alternatives to Adobe Illustrator:

Inkscape
http://www.inkscape.org (I have this one installed, but don't have talent enough to do anything but make doodles).

Karbon14
http://www.koffice.org/karbon/ (This was originally called Killustrator but Adobe, understandably, objected to the name. The KDE team starts all their projects with a 'K', btw).

I have illustrator 7 on one pc, and I think 10 on the mac...

I actually hear you about the Rotrings!! I went to school for graphic design and graduated in 1986, RIGHT BEFORE the computer took over! I still have a tube of rubylyth and amberlyth! not to mention like 50 x-actos!! I was never into technical drawing, all though, since the development of cad and others, It has intrigued me!

okay i took a stab at doing my ranchero in Pshop..I gotta try this with Illustrator! Pshop has way less control for the lines.. also I think I should have done the lines with out aliasing them, illustrator has better shading for objects too! and not to mention this took like 2 hours!!
