AMC V8 Casting Numbers

I know this is mostly an SBC site as I have one in a '63 Impala SS and found many invaluable answers to questions. I recently acquired a '70 Javelin that is supposed to have a 360 in it. I would like to know if anyone knows where the casting numbers are on the block to confirm what I have. I have a decoding book that tells what the numbers are, but do not tell you how to find them. I have also layed under it with a flashlight and didn't see them in any obvious places. The main place they marked these engines are on the passenger side valve cover, but they are chrome and not original, so that's no help. I have searched the forum for any info with no luck. Are there any AMC freaks out there that might be able to help? I'm sure I will come up with more questions as I get into this car. There is not nearly as much info out there on AMC as there is on SBC. Thanks, Pete.

Pete.
Im on a Gremlin site with a lot of die hard AMC fans on it(I run Chevy) that probably can help.
Try www.egroups.com and go to the Badassgremlins website. Hope that helps. Hg

Hemmi, thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I tried it but the search said nothing came up under "Badassgremlins". Maybe I did it wrong. Let me know, Pete.

Try this website -

Also, all AMC V8 motors have their displacement size cast into both sides of the block between the first and second freeze plugs. They are raised numbers about 2" tall.
