The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

Received this today:

Good news! The Economic recovery bill that President Obana signed into law in February 2009 provides for a one-time payment of $250 to Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries.

You should receive your one-time payment by late May 2009. You do not need to take any action to get this payment.

WOW, now the question is, do I take the Wiff out for dinner and a movie or get the carpet shampooed and restretched? Decisions decisions

I figured I'd just fill my F350 and the LL's Escape, pick up a 6 pack of my favorite adult beverage and a bag of chips. That should about use it up

Trillions of dollars in debt and they are giving a rebate?

Something wrong with that scenario.

Drip...drip...drip.

....it's NOT a rebate but a "supplement" to the USA's Social Security which was increased for 2009, but was way too low based on the COL index. What this is .... for no better term, an insult to us oldsters that have worked for many years, paid in our fair share, then are getting another government shafting in our 'golden years'.

Can we Americans make fun of it - yes, because some of us were able to either been lucky enough to have worked at a job that had a pension and/or smart enough to have saved some of what they earned to supplement the ridiculously poor SS (or been a gov't or railroad worker).

Werd.

I'm 50 and I have doubts that I'll ever collect a penny of "social" "security". I resent that the *** raping butt pirates took it upon themselves to garnish my check to fund it in the first place. I am positive that I could have turned that money into a nice retirement nest egg. But the government? They've proven time and again that they couldn't find their own ***** if you spotted them one cheek.

Did you read the fine print though:

We will not count the one-time payment as income for SSI purposes. But if you keep the one-time payment for 9 months or more, it will count toward your SSI resource limit

if you can figure out what that means, good luck. How on earth do they know whether you kept this $250 or spent a different $250?

Just another quarter on a string probably..
Just got this in an email, don't know how true it is, but I'll put it up anyway.

Quote:
Millions of Americans enjoying their small windfall from President Barack Obama's "Making Work Pay" tax credit are in for an unpleasant surprise next spring.

The government is going to want some of that money back.

My friends wife who does the payroll for their store says she's seen an increase in the take home amounts already...

here ya go.....give it back......here ya go...give it back.

Later, mikey
