another cam ouestion...ie...cam timing
thanks for the help on my last post about cam chain tention...but i got one more question i coudnt find anything about,i looked thru a lot post ...anyway my question is this ..........after i got the cam all buttoned up i noticed the back page of the instructings and the are saying this cam gear set has a adjustable crank gear ..it has three key ways center for stock can timing and on the right and left of that is the keyways to use to advance or retard 4 degrees...my car red lines at 5500 the cam hp range is from 2000 to 5000 my vette has a goodwrench 250 hp crate with stock ouad carb/preformer intake/no mufflers and a verry small flo thru cat.does that mean it will run like a dog till i get to 2000 rpm? if i advanced 4 degrees would that correct that with out loosing that much on top ?the cam is a crane #272 h10 energizer ...adv dur 272/272..dur@ .o50 216/216..lif..454/454.. the speed shop suggested eather one of the next two smaller cams but when he said they had a smooth idle ,i said if i put in a cam i want it to have that a good sounding cam lope!!any way thats what made me get this one.also my vette has a turbo 350 and a stock vette .355 rear..do i advance or not?? ????
