Sorry guys.... My computer died, been 'unplugged' for a while.
Sorry Tech, somebody already scooped me up and we are happily married. My husband says he's either the luckiest or UN-luckiest man alive. Lucky that his wife loves and knows cars, UN lucky because that means the hobbies cost TWICE as much.

Well, I guess he does (for now). His 71 chevy truck actually runs, my Rambler doesn't...yet. As far as guns go, we're almost equal. I do have a 9mm handgun and he doesn't. He has a .22 rifle and I don't. Both have shotguns, him a 12 ga, me a 20 ga. So fairly equally armed. Ha! I just got my "upgraded" vortec heads from the shop, so I'm getting there with the Rambler. Now, we have to pull the 196 out of the rambler and fab motor mounts etc etc to make the 327 fit. I am thinking of going with an old school 30-30 cam instead of the 274 thats in there. (That was the original point of the post). But if the new one doesn't sound as good as the old one, I want to be able to put it back in.

There are much better cams than that 30-30 grind available. Nothing wrong with using an old cam, but there's a lot "right" about going with something that works better.

Roxanne, You might think twice about a 30/30 solid lift cam. I put one in a 238 sb and the constant ticking from the large gap on the rockers drove me nuts (nuttier). I was constantly having to re-adjust the rockers because I didn't run poly locks either (lesson learned).

Good info to know. My machine shop guy told me he wouldn't use the 274 thats in there because of the rpm range, so I thought I might try something smaller.
