Smile Another Engine Swap Question

Okay guys. If this question has been posted please leave me a link to it. I tried finding it but got bored lookin for it.

My cousin has a 1982 Buick Regal (2 door). With a small Buick 231 V6 engine. The car looks really good but it's been driven a lot. The engine doesnt run like it used to, the transmission it had broke a little while ago, so he put a new one in it (rebuilt).

About a week ago he bought a 1984 Pontiac GrandPrix with a 231 in it also (just for parts & engine). The car is in really bad shape, except for the engine it runs a million times better than the Regal.
So he wants me to help him switch both engines. He wants the better one to go on the Regal and sell the GP with the bad engine. But leave both trannys were they are right now.
So it would just be a thing of taking out both engines, by them selves.

My questions are:
Are two 231's exactly the same on those cars?

And since i'm gonna help him, what things should we look out for? He knows about engines but I would like you guys to let me know.

Do we need to replace the wiring harnesses or are they the same thing?

Since both engines are the same, the engine mounts, if they look good do we have to replace them just because a swap is being done?

Help me out guys. I know the question might be dumb but i'm 19 y/o. I've helped my uncle take out engines but i guess i just never asked him all this stuff.

Thanks!

this should be a direct swap, the mounts don`t have to be changed unless there in bad shape. the wiring on the 2 cars should be the same.

231 & 252 V6 engines

I know that the 231ci V6 and 252ci V6 are almost identical. Are the mounts the same and harness?
