Well cobalt327 its just me and you on this quadrajet subject, but i am going to rebuild my known good one and get her back on this 4.3liter asap because this edelbrock is a little excessive. When your friend can hold a match next to a tailpipe and it catches on fire, somethings wrong! haha

I'm interested in hearing if the Q-jet gets better mileage than the Edelbrock 600. I believe it will if you stay w/the stock jetting, but who knows?

I know you wont believe this because i didn't when i figured it up but i took a 300 mile trip not long ago and made between 14 and 18mpg on the interstate with the ebrock 600. So IF thats true, im shooting for 20 or better with the quadrajet!

20 mpg would be great given the gas from the pumps we get nowadays. One complaint of the Chevy 90 degree V6 engines is they don't generally get mileage as good as you might expect from an engine that size, but if you have a good combo and can keep out of the secondaries, 20 might happen.

My '80 Chevy Malibu wagon w/a little 229 V6 w/Dualjet 2bbl. carb (1/2 a Q-jet), TH350C, and high as heck rear gears (so high I think it actually hurts mileage) gets a little over 20 mpg going to FL and back, but I drive right at 80 mph as much of the way as I can. When it had a 4.3L V6 I never checked the mileage, but I think highway might have been a little worse. But around town was a different matter- it wasn't good. If I had to guess I'd say maybe 14-15 mpg.

In any event, good luck and keep us posted.
