Red face another stupid 305 question

Hey guys Im still saving up my cash for my engine.Still trying to decide if Im going to rebuild the 305 or wait and by the 350.How much difference would it make if any if i rebuilt the 305 and put 1.88 0r 1.94 intake valves in the heads? Is it going to make any difference?Or is it just another stupid idea trying to make it something that its not.Im really trying to save up for a 350 but it just seems so hard to do when the 305 is already there and waiting. Please help with any ideas that you have so I can know what I need to do.

You can get a good 350 core that runs but tired for about a hundred bucks. The crank and rods from your 305 will work in case the 350 core needs 'em. Pretty much, figure what it'll cost you to rebuild the 305 and add a hundred bucks. On a side note, the kit will be cheaper for a 350, so that'll go towards that 350 core. You'll make more power with the 350. If all else fails, a 305 can be made to really run strong, it just depends on what you're after power wise.

If you go the 350 route and decide to buy a core to rebuild, avoid something that has seized up from overheating/lack of lubrication.

Prefferably something that's just worn out, "'Ol Smokey" will do just fine.
