For what reason do you want it removed? What do you gain by losing it?

I would call your local State Highway Patroll and see what they say. Either them or the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Any alteration of a VIN could be a potential for some trouble as I would imagine moving it would also be included. You can swap virtually every body panel, motor, frame, etc. But you touch a VIN it seem that they want to shoot on sight. LOL!! I would check with the BMV for certain first.

Well if you guys took a look at the picture I attached to my post you see I build a new dash and cut the whole stock dash out and by doing this the stock VIN tag was also removed. So I just don't want to re-use the stupid tag that was on the stock dash and don't want to have that tag riveted to the dash that I built for the truck. Maybe I could pinstripe the VIN number to the dash or somethin a little bit cleaner lookin than that dumb tag.

It's a crap shoot. In my past I have been pulled over multiple times, I have never had the law look at my dash for a VIN #. Since it is the factory location it is supposed to be there. You may never have a problem with it, but then again maybe they will be looking for a stolen truck sometime, and when you least need it you may be detained.
BTW, pinstripe vin is no good. It might as well not be there.
